Find Your Gold
When I first heard about this website (or movement, when it becomes that), I was initially confused. I was told that the word “Neter,” had Egyptian origins, but I needed to research the word to truly see how it worked with the other word in the company name: “Gold.”
After some reading, I found that the word Neter translates simply to God. And when in reference to multiple gods, the name then becomes “neteru.” This made sense that the company is making items that can be seen as God’s Gold. That gold being a product, made specifically for you; from your personal God.
We all want to have some control over some specifics of our life. Personal care should be seen as an assumed item of control, but in many cases, it is not.
For about a decade, I had my hair in locs. I did it mostly as a way to break and norm and to see if my hair could actually grow that long. I spent years with short hair and never really gave it a chance. What I learned from the experience was twofold. First, I learned how to be patient and just let things happen. What I also learned is what things worked in my hair and what did not. But it was so difficult to find specific things for my specific needs. It took about 5 years to really get into a routine where I felt that I knew what I was doing and felt confident enough to do things myself.
I hope to write more in the future explaining things that I have done to make sure my body got what it needed so I felt that I was in control. Remember, just because something works for someone who looks like you, it does not mean that it will work for you. Find your gold. There is a Neter for everyone.
