4K For Cancer – Seattle or Bust
We have a student in our Student Support Services program who is about to embark on a 4,000-mile bike ride in support of cancer patients. Michael McNair is scheduled to depart in 10 days with the 4K for Cancer organization. He has pledged to raise $4500, but he is $696 short right now. I am hoping that the generosity of our faculty and staff will make it possible for Michael to fulfill his pledge. If he cannot raise these funds, he will need to contribute (more) of his own money.
Michael McNair is an energetic, compassionate, dedicated student who has been working hard to raise the necessary funds as well as preparing himself for the physical challenge of biking 4,000 miles. He is scheduled to leave on May 28 from Baltimore and will be riding for 60 days to the group’s destination in Seattle.
4K for Cancer’s mission is to spread awareness and hope in communities across the country in the fight against cancer. They “do this through cancer education programs, health screenings and by visiting cancer patients at hospitals, cancer centers, and hospices each day during the ride. 4K also gives financial support to local, cancer-centric non-profits in the communities we bike through.”
I don’t normally ask people to donate to a cause, but I feel this is a special situation. Michael McNair is an extraordinary young man, and I hope you will consider making a donation to support him in his efforts to do something that will make a positive difference in the lives of cancer patients throughout this country.
Thank you very much for your generosity.”
This email alone raised over $1500 for me in 45 minutes. Wowzers.
